John earned his medical degree at the University of Utah School of Medicine, and completed Pediatrics, Pediatric Cardiology and Interventional Catheterization training at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital. He is currently the Chief of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Texas McGovern School of Medicine and Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas. During his college years, he served a 2 year mission for his church in Buenos Aires and speaks Spanish. He travels frequently to Central and South America on medical missions where he performs heart catheterizations on children without the means to such services. He has also travelled to the Ukraine and Uganda on mission trips. His research interests include the use of biodegradable materials in children with heart disease, and procedures to help premature babies.
