Steve Conlan lives in Swansea in Wales, and works at the University’s Medical School where he is a Professor of Molecular and Cell Biology and Head of Reproductive Biology and Gynaecological Oncology research.

He graduated from Swansea in 1990 when it was a college of the University of Wales, with BSc in Biology. He then did his PhD at the University of London, spending time in Bristol (UK) and Braunschweig (Germany). After his PhD he worked as a research scientist in Norwich (UK) and Heraklion, Crete (Greece), before he returned to Swansea to take up an academic position in 2000.

His research group uses molecular, cellular and nano biology to understand endometrial and ovarian cancers, and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and endometriosis relating to infertility, working closely with hospital doctors. He is looking for better ways to diagnose and treat these diseases with new tests and new medicines.

He is a Full Member of Houston Methodist Research Institute, Texas, and Distinguished Professor at Xi'an Jiaotong University, Suzhou Academy, China, visiting both places each year.
