Prof. Massimo Fresta
Born in Catania (Italy) on May 13th, 1967, works and lives in Catanzaro (Italy). Obtained a degree in Pharmacy in 1989 cum laude and “Federfarma” award, at the University of Catania. Specialized in Chemistry and Technology of Foodsin 1993 at the University of Catania; Scientific stage at the ETH-Zentrum, Institut für Polymere, Zurich (Switzerland). Ph.D. degree in Technology of Biologically Active Substances - Doctorate thesis “Preparation, Characterization and Use of Liposomes for the Selective Transport of Cerebrotonic and Neurotrophic Drugs to the CNS”, in 1996 at the University of Palermo. He had the position of assistant professor in Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmaceutics at the University of Catania (Italy) on 1997, moved to the University “Magna Grӕcia” in 2000 as Associate Professor and obtained the position of full Professor in Pharmceutical Technology and Advanced Drug Delivery at the same University on 2002. He was (2002-2013) the coordinator of the doctorate course in pharmaceutical sciences, and from 2011 he is the dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy. He was responsible of various Continuing Learning programs on behalf of the Italian Ministry of Health. The research interest of Massimo Fresta is mainly based on the investigation of novel nanomedicines characterized by supermolecular self-assembling features.He has published more than 150 peer-reviewed articles in international scientific journals and was co-author of various chapters in scientific books. He is the author of more than 270 abstracts of congress/conference/workshop/meeting presentations. He has filed various patents on pharmaceutical products. Professor Massimo Fresta is the recipient of various awards and honors. He is a member of various national and international scientific societies. He is member of the editorial board of various scientific journals. He acts as an active reviewer for the most important and prestigious scientific journals in the field of drug delivery and pharmaceutical nanotechnology.
