ALBINI ADRIANA

Adriana Albini is born in Venice (I) and works in Milan, married, with two children.
She is the Scientific Director of Fondazione MultiMedica Onlus, Milan and Director of Vascular Biology and Angiogenesis Laboratory at IRCCS MultiMedica.
From April 2012 to August 2015 she was Director of the Department “Research and Statistics Infrastructure” (I-RS) and Director of Translational Research Laboratory  at IRCCS “Tecnologie Avanzate e Modelli Assistenziali in Oncologia” - Arcispedale S. Maria Nuova - Reggio Emilia.
She has a Ph.D in Chemistry and trained from 1980 to 1983 as a postdoctoral fellow at Max-Planck Institute for Biochemistry, Martinsried bei Muenchen , Germany.
From 1985 to 1988 worked as “Visiting Scientist” at NIH, Bethesda MD (USA).
From 1988 to 1996 she worked as deputy chief in the Department of Chemical Carcinogenesis (National Institute for Cancer Research) where in 1996 she became chief of the section “Mechanisms of Tumor progression”. From 1999 to September 2006 Dr. A. Albini was the head of Laboratory of Molecular Oncology.
From June 2004 to September 2006 she was Deputy Chief of Intramural Research, at IRCCS National Institute for Research on Cancer, Genoa (IST).
From January 2005 to September 2006 she was Director of the Department of Traslational Oncology.
From 2006 at 2012 she was the Head of Oncology Research at IRCCS MultiMedica, Milan
From 2009 at 2012 she was Scientific Director of MultiMedica Medical Center Castellanza (VA), Italy.
She has been President of the Italian Society for Cancer Research (SIC) and President of Metastasis Research Society (MRS).
She is member of the following editorial boards of scientific journals: Journal of the National Cancer Institute, Carcinogenesis, Cancer Research.
She is Member of Scientific Council AIRC_Italian Association for Cancer Research, Member of Panel L4 ERC Consolidator Grants and Evaluator for MIUR-Ministery of University and Instruction of Italy.
She is member of the Scientific Council of ONDA (National Observatory on Women's Health)
She is member of the Scientific Council of  ESO (European School of Oncology).
Dr. Albini received various scientific awards.
She has over 320 scientific publications in peer review journals. She is among the most cited Italian women scientists with h index (a measure of citations) of 78. She has 19660 citations and a total IF of 1537 (Google Scholar).
Her major focuses are in vitro and in vivo models for angiogenesis and inflammation, vascular biology, microenvironment, mechanisms of invasion of endothelial cells.  Her major interest is anti-angiogenesis in a chemopreventive setting.
She developed major assays in invasion and angiogenesis and has numerous patents in the field.
